Eszter Hajba-Horváth graduated in the field of environmental sciences at University of Pannonia, Faculty of Engineering, School of Environmental Sciences. She took part in the work of Institute of Environmental Sciences at the same university as a PhD student of Doctoral School of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. In the frame of her research she examined the role of microbial activity in the formation of secondary organic aerosol. During her PhD she spent a semester in Weingarten, Germany, where she contributed to the work of Hochschule Ravensburg-Weingarten. There she investigated the distribution of radioisotopes in environmental samples. She gained further professional experience at companies with international and national background in ecotoxicology, business development and project management. Currently she is a member of Particle Technology Research Group (Research Institute of Biomolecular and Chemical Engineering, University of Pannonia). She started her scientific work in 2018 specialized in preparation of drug loaded nanoparticles with controlled drug release and improved bioavailability. Principally she applies emulsification and precipitation method for nanocomposite preparation, examines their chemical and physical properties, then integrates them in topical drug forms. Further field of her research are the ganglioside nanomicelles which are essential for the maintenance of the central nervous system, they can be used in the clinical treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson and Alzheimer diseases and they are also promising drug carrier materials. Her research focuses on the physical and chemical characterization of ganglioside nanomicelles, especially on their stability in buffers and in blood plasma. The further field of her work is the microencapsulation of anti-cancer drugs used for the treatment of brain cancers with gangliosides and the examination of the chemical, physical, drug dissolution and cytotoxicity properties of the produced drug carrier nanomicelles. Besides she takes part in research in the field of environmental protection, her current research topic is environmental utilization and formulation of volcanic raw materials - primarily alginite, zeolite, perlite.
